CLARITY PPM EXPERTISE
I have been working with Clarity since 2006. In this 20 year period I have kept up to date with the application as it has evolved. I have achieved certification in, and taught, both functional and technical aspects of the tool. I have worked on configuration, troubleshooting, installations and integration for numerous large enterprises. I know my way around Clarity’s capabilities, shortcuts, hidden strengths and weaknesses. Likewise, I have aquired many techniques to keep users, and senior stakeholders, invested so that Clarity pays off for the organisation.
INTEGRATIONS & MIGRATIONS
For typical integrations and migrations, I like working with REST and the JSON structure. At the same time I am aware of several alternatives that may be appropriate: flat files, database links or SOAP methods, for example. I am happy to choose whatever works best, and to explain the rationale behind that choice.
GEL SCRIPTING
GEL is a powerful scripting tool built into Clarity and perfect for undertaking technical actions behind the scenes. I am comfortable working with the full set of libraries provided by Broadcom or extending the range of the language. I can create effective scripts or templates, test and debug efficiently and integrate GEL with configuration mangement systems.
PROCESS DESIGN & OPTIMISATION
I have designed and improved dozens of processes and workflows: nested processes, processes running as part of jobs, externally triggered workflows, and elements running in both classic and modern UIs.
XOG
The “XML Open Gateway” is a great Clarity-specific tool for reading and writing both object instances (projects, resources, etc) as well as Clarity metadata. I know how to implement a range of solutions with it. My expertise helps determine when to use XOG and when another technique such as REST would be better.
SUPPORT & ADVISORY
Over several years, I built and managed a support team that worked with a range of Clarity using organisations. I learned how to create a model which fully complied with the ITIL standard. Clarity instances can generate many support tickets and I know how to tackle them efficiently. I am confident dealing with a range of technical and senior stakeholders.
INSTALLS & UPGRADES
Broadcom updates Clarity regularly, each release packed with new features. A pattern of regular upgrades helps get the best ROI on your application and avoids the dreaded “end of life” tag. Clarity upgrades can be complex however I have wide expertise in managing them so they run smoothly: minimal downtime, all stakeholders accommodated, all changes clearly communicated. Tamed!
CLARITY CONFIGURATION
I have used and taught Clarity Studio for many years and know how to create elements that use both classic and modern UIs. I know how to create well designed blueprints, shared views, canvases, workflows, roadmaps and hierarchies to suit your business needs.
REPORTING & ANALYTICS
Clarity supports a range of tools by which reports of one kind or another can be produced. I am familiar with Clarity’s database models: the intermediary code that allows reporting tools to connect with it, and the process of creating reports on those tools. I have worked with Jaspersoft, Power BI, Tableau and Clarity’s internal reporting suite.
